X-71 Super Shuttle
from "Armageddon" (1998)
About the Design
Used to fly a team of American astronauts and drillers to a giant asteroid on a collision course with Earth, the X-71 was an advanced space shuttle distinguished by its double set of wings and twin strap-on boosters. Among the cargo it carried on this particular mission was the "Armadillo," a six-wheeled "space tractor" used for transporting men and equipment across non-terrestrial landscapes.

About the Kit
Although the two X-71s featured in "Armageddon" resembled the American space shuttle, they were modified enough -- especially around the nose -- to be recognizable as wholly different vehicles. However, when Revell issued its "Armageddon Space Shuttle" kit, the company didn't bother to mold the actual X-71, but instead just added strap-on boosters and an extra set of tail wings to its pre-existing space shuttle kit. Oh, well, at least the decals were accurate.
