The Virtual Museum of Flying Wonders!
The Fantastic Plastic Virtual Museum of Flying Wonders contains what is perhaps the world's largest personal collection of models dedicated to the field of "fantastic" air and spacecraft. This covers both legitimate experimental and "conceptual" subjects from the world's top aerospace companies to wholly fictional craft from the worlds of television, motion pictures and comics. What unites them is their "cool" factor and an aesthetic borne out of a bold, ambitious and romantic vision of a more bountiful future.
Because of Fantastic Plastic's wide scope, this site is divided into six categories:
X-PLANES & PROTOTYPES - Airplanes on the cutting edge.
CONCEPT AIRCRAFT - "Black Projects," "Paper Projects," "What Ifs" and other planes that never got off the drawing board.
SPACECRAFT & MISSILES - Models of historic missiles, rockets and manned spacecraft.
CONCEPT SPACECRAFT - Rockets and space stations from futures past.
SCIENCE FICTION - Fanciful vehicles from film, TV and comic books.
GRAB BAG - Concept cars, flying saucers, hydrofoils, robots, mechs and other oddities.
Within each category type, designs are arranged chronologically, decade-by-decade. Note that models are grouped by when the designs were created, not by when the model kits were produced. In many cases -- such as the "Luft '46" German prototype and project aircraft featured in the 1940s X-Planes and Concept Aircraft sections -- the gap between aircraft design and kit production can span several decades.
We also have a VISITORS GALLERY where Fantastic Plastic fans can display their own builds.
For a rundown of ALL the kits in my collection -- both built and unbuilt -- check out the Kit Index. Kits here are grouped by manufacturer.
Please feel free to roam the "halls" of the Museum as your leisure. Note that, as part of my personal collection, these particular models are not for sale. To see the kits I currently have available for purchase, please visit the Virtual Museum Store on your way out!
