Visitors Transport from "V" (1983)
About the Design
The NBC two-part mini-series "V" was such a hit when it premiered in 1983 that it quickly begat "V: The Final Battle," a three-part mini-series in 1984 and "V," the series, which ran in 1984-1985.
The key baddies in the series were the "Visitors," a race of seemingly benign humanoids who were, in fact, flesh-eating lizards in human guise. Their advanced technology was manifested in their giant city-sized saucer-shaped motherships (likely inspired by similar vehicles described in Arthur C. Clarke's seminal 1953 sci-fi novel, "Childhood's End") and their smaller atmospheric craft. These modular vehicles could be mixed and match to perform various tasks, including fighter, tanker and, in this case, transport. |
