FLYING SAUCER
from "Vic Torry and His Flying Saucer" (1950)
About the Design
"Vic Torry and His Flying Saucer" was a one-off comic book published by Fawcett Comics in 1950. Released at the height of America's first "flying saucer" craze, it featured a wholly earthbound saucer that took its plucky heroes on exciting adventures around the world.
Although an obscure design, it would not be surprising if the saucer's color and overall design wasn't part of the inspiration for the similarly styled Flying Sub that appeared 15 years later in Irwin Allen's TV series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea." |
About the Kit
This simple four-piece kit was released by Atlantis Models in 2017 as part of their long-running "5-Inch Flying Saucer" series. The saucer could be lit with a blinking interior LED light (included). Also included in the kit was a four-piece display stand and a printed display "backdrop" featuring art from the original Vic Torry comic.
This kit was built from an original issue. |
