U.S.S. Shenzhou
from "Star Trek: Discovery" (2017 - ?)
About the Design
The U.S.S. Shenzhou, NCC-1227, was a 23rd century Walker-class starship operated by the United Federation of Planets. The ship was the first to encounter the Klingon War Fleet of 2256, ultimately sparking the first Federation/Klingon War. The Shenzhou was subsequently lost in what became known at the Battle of the Binary Stars.
The Shenzhou was the first starship to appear in CBS-All Access' "Star Trek: Discovery" series, premiering in 2017. Although ostensibly set in the pre-TOS era, the ship's advanced aesthetics would have made it far more at home in the post-ST:TNG universe. Its most distinguishing characteristics were its large forward-mounted guns and command bridge located on the underside of the main saucer, a first for any Star Trek vessel. |
About the Kit
This 1:2500 scale plastic kit was a "snap-together" product designed for beginning modelers. The kit came with highly detailed "wallpaper" decals that allowed the builder to construct a very handsome display model with minimal painting.
The kit was one of three 1:2500 "Star Trek: Discovery" kits released by Polar Lights in 2017, the others being the U.S.S. Discovery and the U.S.S. Enterprise. |
