About the Design
Early in World War II, American military intelligence became concerned that, like Nazi Germany, the Japanese were developing a number of radical high-performance fighters that could overwhelm our forces. One of these was the Suzukaze 20 "Omar," a wedge-shaped single-seater with a pronounced tail. In fact, the "Omar" was no more than a speculative design that had been featured in the April 1941 issue of the Japanese magazine Sora as part of an article titled, "Dreams of Future Designers.".
