Super Star Destroyer
from "Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)
About the Design
Introduced in 1980's "Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back," the "Super Star Destroyer" was the largest capital ship in the Imperial fleet. Measuring a massive 19,000 meters from stem to stern, the arrowhead-shaped interstellar battle-wagon dwarfed even in mighty Star Destroyers that often served as its escorts.
The Imperial flagship "Executor" was commanded by none other than Sith Lord Darth Vader and served as the command vessel for the Emperor himself during the decisive Battle of Endor. |
About the Kit
One of the first commercially available models of the Super Star Destroyer ever produced, this one-piece resin model was released by Crazy Details of Argentina in 2004. Featuring adequate but hardly exceptional surface detail, it was purportedly one of 1,000 castings done and made available to "Star Wars" fans worldwide. (Its quality was subsequently eclipsed by other resin and, ultimately, styrene kit manufacturers.)
Although the model came "pre-painted," it was completely repainted by this modeler for display here in the Virtual Museum of Flying Wonders. No box art is available. |
