About the Design

This graceful "Flying Wing" was used by the leader of the nefarious Spider Gang to terrorize law abiding citizens in the first of the Ralph Byrd "Dick Tracy" serials produced by Republic Pictures in the mid-1930s.  This same superbly detailed miniature was subsequently used as the "Lighting's Wing" in Republic's "Fighting Devil Dogs" chapter play of 1938.

About the Kit

This handsome 1/144-scale resin kit was Number Nine in Herb Deeks' nostalgic "Past Future Series."  Its main wing was a single casting; the propellers were white metal.

This kit was purchased and built in 2002.
