SHADO Moon Hopper
from "UFO" (1970)
About the Design
The Moon Hopper -- sometimes called the "Moonmobile" -- was a flying lunar rover feautured in the 1970 sci-fi series "UFO," the first live-action series from British producer Gerry Anderson. The Moon Hopper -- a model first used in Anderson's "Captain Scarlet & The Mysterions" series -- used design elements taken from NASA's Lunar Module (which had landed on the moon just one year earlier) -- and a triangular recessed cockpit window design that would again appear in his subsquent live-action TV series, "Space: 1999."
