Saturn C-8 (1962)
About the Design
Developed as part of NASA's NOVA program during the early 1960s, the Saturn C-8 was a larger, even more powerful alternative to the Saturn V rocket that eventually put America's Apollo astronauts on the moon.
The C-8 would have been used had NASA gone with a direct ascent moon lander instead of the dual Command Module/Lunar Module system ultimately selected. Both its first and second stages would have incorporated eight engines, its first stage producing an estimated 12 million pounds of thrust as opposed to the 7.5 million pounds produced by the Saturn V. |
About the Kit
The Saturn C-8 was one of two kits included in Fantastic Plastic's 1:700 scale "Post-Saturn Super-Booster Collection #2), which was released in March 2025. The kit also included a model of the massive Sea Dragon (shown in the box art).
This model was built from the original issue. |
