Romulan Scorpion Fighter
from "Star Trek: Nemesis" (2002)
About the Design
Fighter spacecraft are few and far between in the "Star Trek" universe. One notable exception was the "Scorpion," a two-man fighter that made a brief but impressive appearance in the final "Generations"-era feature film, "Star Trek: Nemesis." Housed aboard the Romulan flagship "Scimitar, " the Scorpions were small, highly maneuverable fighter craft armed with a single forward-mounted disruptor cannon. It was one of these craft that Capt. Jean-Luc Picard and the android Data hijacked and used to escape from the "Scimitar" following their capture by the Romulan-raised Picard clone Shinzon.

About the Kit
The second-to-the-last original "Star Trek"-licensed kit released by Polar Lights before the company's purchase by Racing Champions in 2006, the Scorpion was a "snap" kit designed to attract younger builders. In addition to its "glue-less" construction design, other accommodations to pre-teen buyers included stickers in place of decals and the inclusion to pre-painted Picard and Data figures (which were actually done quite nicely).
