Robot
from "Lost in Space: The Movie" (1998)
About the Design
Unlike the more benign B-9 (pun intended) of the original "Lost in Space" TV series, this movie robot was trouble from the word "go." With its insect-like segmented body, huge lobster claws, Schwarzenegger-esque torso and "hip arms," the robot was hell on wheels -- er, treads -- until it was deactivated and rebuilt by the always-intrepid boy-genius Will Robinson.

About the Kit
This was a big kit, the finished model standing a full foot in height. Although apparently quite accurate in design, the kit suffered from numerous other deficiencies, including have plastic treads instead of rubber, and arm joints that were so loose that it was difficult if not impossible to pose the model in more than one or two decent-looking positions.
This kit was built from an original issue. |
