Naboo Royal Starship
from "Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" (1999)
About the Design
Introduced in the first Star Wars "prequel," 1999's "The Phantom Menace," the Naboo Royal Starship boasted a sleek, 1950s'-style retro design intended to reflect the optimism of the Old Republic. Unlike the rigidly geometric, greeblie-covered ships of the Empire era, Naboo technology was smooth, polished and very, very civilized.

About the Kit
Based on an Estes flying rocket, this Fantastic Plastic Models kit was significantly modified by pattern maker Pat Tomlinson, who removed all vestiges of the solid rocket motor accommodations and added highly detailed landing gear, bay doors and an entrance ramp. The kit was a big one, measuring 16 inches tip-to-tip.
This kit is no longer in production. This model was built from an original issue. |
