About the Design
Alexander Lippisch (1894-1976) was one of Nazi Germany's most imaginative and prolific aircraft designers. Specializing in delta-winged aircraft, he helped create the rocket-powered Messerschmitt Me.163 and, after moving to America, the Convair XF-92A.
Many of his concepts never made it past the design stage, including the P.15.05. This small jet-powered interceptor was distinguished by its horn-like nose-mounted cockpit, under which the pilot would lie in a prone position. Like the Me.163, the plane had no internal landing gear but would have been launched off a trolley, then belly-land. |
