Nosha-Bucaming from "Lensman" (1984)
About the Design
Based on the Edward E. Doc “Smith” “Lensman” novels, the Japanese 1984 “Lensman” anime feature – and the 1987 TV series it spawned – featured some truly breathtaking spaceship designs. Among them was the Nosha-Bucaming, the cargo/utility craft that served as the personal vessel of the merchant Buskirk. This amalgam of blocks, cylinders and hemispheres was intended to look clunky – and it certainly did.

About the Kit
Produced by Tomy of Japan, the “Lensman” models series was not broadly released in the U.S. but individual items did manage to make their way stateside via various mail order companies. This 1/1000 scale kit was extremely smal-- only four inches long -- and, as a display model, paled in comparison to the larger, far more attractive Britannia II model produced by the same company.
This model was built from an original issue. |
