IXS Enterprise
NASA Warp Ship Concept (2013)
About the Design
Introduced at the SpaceVision conference in 2013 by Dr. Harold "Sonny" White, the IXS Enterprise is a conceptual interstellar spacecraft currently under development by NASA and Dr. White's private Limitless Space Institute (LSI). The ship's two massive rings are designed to generate a White-Juday warp-field to bend the fabric of space in front of and behind the ship and thus allow the craft to travel faster than the speed of light, a concept first proposed by Dr. Miguel Alcubierre in 1994. The craft also has a large conventional rocket engine for sub-light propulsion.
The ringed spheres on the ship's dorsal and ventral sections are shuttlecraft powered by the same White-Juday warp field system. The ship's intricate design is the work of Dr. White and Dutch digital artist Mark Rademaker, and has been updated since first made public in 2014. |
