About the Design
In 1941, Henschel began development of a heavy fighter to potentially replace the Messerschmitt Bf 1101. The advanced canard design featured an unusual ventral rudder and rear-mounted contra-rotating pusher-propellers intended to maximize pilot forward visibility and maneuverability. The fighter would be equipped with 4 Mk 108 30mm cannons mounted in the nose.
While providing good forward visibility, the design proposed a risk for pilot ejection, as the pilot could be pulled into the rear-mounted propellers. Initiated in 1941, the Henschel P.75 only got as far as wind tunnel testing before Germany's surrender in May 1945 halted further development. . |
