Earth Alliance Starfury Fighter
from "Babylon 5" (1994-1998)
About the Design
Starfuries were the principle space superiority fighters flown by the Earth Alliance in the 1990s syndicated sci-fi series "Babylon 5." Unlike space fighters of the past, the Starfury design paid more attention to the requirements of actual zero-G combat, particularly the effects of inertia. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of this design was that pilots stood upright rather than sit as in most earthly fighter planes. (Why not? There's no gravity.) Starfuries were also able to do flips, rolls and 180-degree rotations that would be impossible for atmospheric fighters.
Starfuries appeared in a variety of paint schemes depending on the roles and temperaments of their pilots. |
About the Kit
Sculpted by Alfred Wong, cast by Mana Studios and featuring an extensive decal treatment by JBOT, this 1:144 model was the second of Fantastic Plastic's 1:144 B5 fighter kits. Released in early January 2011, the kit was available only through private sale.
The kit came with decals to create a generic or "Presidential Escort" fighter (shown here). Additional "nose art" schemes were available directly from JBOT. |
