Draconian Marauder
from "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" (1979-1981)
About the Design
Intended to be a nasty, sinister little one-man fighter, the Draconian Marauder turned out to be rather cheap and unconvincing, especially when compared to the far more handsome Earth Defense Directorate Starfighter with which it often engaged in motion-controlled combat. The Marauder's pancaked fuselage and oversized cockpit seemed to owe more to the limitations of Universal Studio's prop department than they did the demands of futuristic spacecraft engineering.

About the Kit
One of only two "Buck Rogers" kits produced by Monogram in the late 1970's (the other was the Earth Defense Directorate Starfighter), the Marauder was actually released before the series' September 1979 premiere. But while the original Starfighter is today a highly coveted kit, the Marauder remains the series' proverbial red-headed stepchild, commanding far fewer $$$ whenever it pops up for sale.
