About the Design
During World War II, Germany's Dornier Aircraft Company specialized in advanced pusher and pusher/puller piston-driven bomber designs, most notably the Dornier
Do.335, a plane that actually become operational during the final months of the conflict. The Do.P.215 was an earlier "paper project" that proposed housing two piston engines internally in serial to power two counter-rotating rear-mounted propellers. Conceived as a "schnellbomber" or "fast bomber," the plane would have been heavily armed and capable of dropping the Fritz X guided bomb. This is yet another "Luft '46" paper project that never got beyond the proposal stage. |
