Doc Brown's DeLorean from "Back to the Future" (1985)
About the Design
Doc Brown's time
machine (aka "OutaTime Car") was a classic early 1980s DeLorean sports car
encrusted with all manner of electronic doohickeys Original equipment included
a portable nuclear reactor and an onboard flux capacitor. In this "B"-version,
which appeared at the end of the original "Back to the Future" and
played a leading role in "Back to the Future - Part II," the
original plutonium reactor was replaced with a "Mr. Fusion" power plant from the
year 2015, along with a hover conversion that allowed the car to fly.

About the Kit
Originally produced by Aoshima of
Japan, this kit was later repackaged by AMT/Ertl for distribution in the United
States. The model contained a nifty slide mechanism tilted the wheels to allow
the car to assume the "flying" position.
Although there was only one AMT/Ertl release of this kit, Aoshima re-released it several times along with "A" and "C" versions. The model was built from the AMT/Ertl release. |
