U.S.S. Enterprise
from "Star Trek: Discovery" (2017 - ?)
About the Design
When the fabled U.S.S. Enterprise made a surprise cameo at the end of "Star Trek: Discovery's" final Season One episode, it was immediate greeted by nearly unanimous fan approval.
Unlike the weird, over-styled Enterprise of the JJ Abrams movies, this Grey Lady skillfully integrated modern detail and aesthetics while retaining the lines and "feel" of the 1960s-era Matt Jefferies original. In addition to significantly more surface detailing, the biggest "improvements" were the row of glowing blue lights on the warp engine nacelles (A clear nod to similar features on the NX-01 from "Star Trek: Enterprise"), angled nacelle supports (A nod to the "upgraded" Enterprise in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture"), as well as a wide "cut" in the upper saucer and addition of a clear "bridge window" (Perhaps the only nod to the JJ Abrams films). |
About the Kit
This 1:2500 scale plastic kit was a "snap-together" product designed for beginning modelers. The kit came with highly detailed "wallpaper" decals that allowed the builder to construct a very handsome display model with minimal painting.
The kit was one of three 1:2500 "Star Trek: Discovery" kits released by Polar Lights in 2017, the others being the U.S.S. Discovery and the U.S.S. Shenzhou. |
