About the Design

Designed for the Japanese animated series "Battle of the Planets" (originally titled "Gatchaman" and later "G-Force") this odd, asymmetrical space station was equipped with numerous hangar bays from which it launched a variety of bird-shaped fighter craft.

About the Kit

Was this design actually featured on "Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman" ​or just marketed as a cash-grab movie tie-in? We raise this question because we've also seen this same model packaged as an undersea laboratory, a function for which it seems far more appropriate.  (Notice the legs under each module?) An alternate box art from the company "Grip" appears to support this hypothesis.

In any case, this model was built from an original issue.
