Starship Prometheus
from "Prometheus" (2012)
About the Design
Prometheus was a long-range interstellar science vessel operated by the Weyland Company. In Ridley Scott's 2012 "Alien" prequel, the ship and its crew are sent to map the planet LV-223, and there find evidence of a long-dead alien civilization.
Even at super-light speeds, traveling between stars takes many years, hence the crew is kept in stasis with only an android "awake" to tend to onboard maintenance. One at its destination, the ship's engines rotate so that the vessel can land vertically on the planet's surface. |
About the Kit
The 1:1000 Prometheus kit was released by Fantastic Plastic Models in 2020. This was a half-scale version of the Prometheus kit released by Fantastic Plastic in 2005, based on the same CAD model by Scott Lowther, but significantly simplified.
Unlike the larger kit that could be built in either the in-flight or landed configuration, this was an "in-flight only" kit to save on parts count. |
