Jedi Starfighter & Hyperdrive Ring
from "Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones" (2002)
About the Design
In 2002's "Attack of the Clones," Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi flits about the Galaxy Far Far Away in a hyper-drive-capable spacecraft system composed of a wedge-shaped one-man fighter (From which the A-Wing Fighter presumably grew) and a detachable "hyper-drive ring" that could be left in orbit while the fighter made planetfall. Ship's operations were supported by an R2-D2 like astromech droid that was literally built into the fighter's portside wing..

About the Kit
Another superior model kit from Japan's Fine Molds, this all-plastic kit came complete with fighter and detachable hyper-drive ring -- as well as two massively complex decal sheets for decorating both. Although never "officially" released in the U.S. -- Fine Molds' license was exclusive to Asia -- the model managed to make its way to the States via numerous high-end hobby shops and, of course, the Internet.
This model was built from an original issue. |
