About the Design

In the 1970s/1980s Japanese anime import "Starblazers," Earth is attacked by the Gamilon Empire, led by Abelt Desslok. His command ship destroyed in a Terran counter-attack, Desslok moves his flag to this massive space-going dreadnaught. The new ship's design conformed to the "battleships in space" motif that dominated all of "Starblazers" (originally "Space Battleship Yamato") and perhaps more than any other ship design in the series, projected a decidedly Shogun-era design influence.

About the Kit

This 1:6000 Bandai kit was available briefly in the U.S. in the mid-1980s and turns up every now at then on Ebay.
