About the Design
The SyFy Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" prequel "Caprica," which ran for just one season in 2009-2010, featured a number of "retro" air and spacecraft designs that offered hints as to the origins of the series more "modern" spacecraft.
Seen in a war games simulation set several decades prior to the show's "past future," the Caprica Warhawk, or "WWII Viper" as many fans call it, represented perhaps the first iteration of the "Viper" fighter design. Instead of rockets or even jets, the Warhawk was powered by twin rear-mounted "pusher" propellers synchronized to avoid chewing each other to pieces. Like all future Vipers, the Warhawk was a single-seat fighter distinguished by its long, aggressive nose. |
