Naboo Royal Starship
from "Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" (1999)
About the Design
Introduced in the first Star Wars "prequel," 1999's "The Phantom Menace," the Naboo Royal Starship boasted a sleek, 1950s'-style retro design intended to reflect the optimism of the Old Republic. Unlike the rigidly geometric, greeblie-covered ships of the Empire era, Naboo technology was smooth, polished and very, very civilized.
About the Kit
Released in February 2009, the Royal Starship was the second in Fantastic Plastic's series of 1:288 scale Naboo space ship kits. (The first, the Naboo Royal Cruiser, was released the previous January.) Patterned by Scott Lowther and cast by Replicant Casting Co., the 11-inch-long kit featured optional landing gear, an entrance ramp and a desert landscape display stand.
This kit was retired in July 2009.
