ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
The Soviet R-7 booster, which
successfully launched the Sputnik satellite into orbit in 1957, has long
been the "workhorse" of the Russian Space Agency. But it has not
gone without modifications. In 1984, the Soyuz version of the
R-7, known as the Soyuz U, was upgraded to the "U-2," the main difference
being that the rockets burned combustible "zeklin" instead of
traditional kerosene. On May 18, 1991, a Soyuz U-2 placed the "Soyuz TM-12" spacecraft into orbit with an international crew of two Russians and one Brit. |
This 1:144 injection-molded model of the TM-12 was released by Russia's Maquette company in 2003. This model was built from an original release. |
