ABOUT THE KIT |
As detailed
here,
Project Pluto was one of the most ambitious "Doomsday Weapon" projects
ever initiated by the U.S. government. The system's centerpiece was to be
a massive cruise missile powered by a Tory-IIA nuclear engine. Flying at
near tree-top level at supersonic speeds,, the missile was to carry a
dozen-plus thermonuclear warheads. In addition, its radioactive exhaust
would poison any terrain over which it flew. The advent of dependable ICBMs coupled with the problems associated with actually testing such a dangerous vehicle led to Project Pluto being cancelled in 1967. |
This was Fantastic Plastic's release
of the Project Pluto/Railcar kit released in 2011 and retired a year later. This
version featured the missile and booster rockets only, and came with a
correspondingly reduced price tag. For information on kit price and availability, CLICK HERE. |
