N.S.E.A. "Protector" Confronts the Giant Electric Space Squid |
ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
The N.S.E.A. Protector is both the centerpiece of the hit 1999 sci-fi comedy "Galaxy Quest" and "Galaxy Quest," the cheezy (and wholly fictional) 1970s-era show-within-a-show the movie celebrates. The Protector is the flagship for the National Space Exploration Administration (N.S.E.A.), an earth-based organization not unlike "Star Trek"'s United Federation of Planets. Carrying a crew of nearly 1,000 representing a cross-section of human and alien cultures, the Protector is a powerful paladin of peace and freedom throughout the known galaxy. Fun Fact: The N.T.E. prefix on the ship's registration number stands for "Not the Enterprise." Never give up! Never surrender! |
Released in late 2009, the
"Protector" was among the first kits produced by Pegasus Hobbies. Part of
the "Sci-Fi Renaissance" of the late 2000s, the "Protector" featured a display
stand and a removable "Command Module." This model was built from an original issue. |
