Caprica Jet Vipers on Desert Training Mission |
ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
SyFy's "Battlestar Galactica" prequel "Caprica" took audiences back to the 12 Colonies in the days prior to the First Cylon War. Although still "futuristic" by early 21st century standards, the series nonetheless attempted to go "retro" in relation to its successful predecessor. Among other things, this meant backstepping much of BSG's iconic spacecraft, particularly its signature Viper space fighter. The show's solution was to blend many familiar Viper characteristics with 20th century jet aircraft. The result: The Caprica Air Force Jet Viper. Roughly the same size as its space-faring descendent, the Jet Viper was a purely atmospheric craft with dual jet exhausts, stubby, forward-swept wings and a credible arsenal of air-to-air ordnance attached to underwing hard points. Although quite photogenic, the craft appeared only briefly in the short-lived, family-centric series. |
The Caprica Air Force Jet Viper was
released by Fantastic Plastic Models in January 2014. The model, measuring 6.5
inches in length, was mastered and cast exclusively for Fantastic Plastic by
Anigrand Craftswork. For information on kit availability, CLICK HERE. |
