Blohm & Voss' P.188 project
was initiated by Nazi Germany to produce a two-man strategic bomber that
could function at both high and low speeds. Its most unusual feature was
its "double-swept-back" wing design. Set high on the fuselage, the wing
was swept back 20 degrees in its first half, but swept forward 20 degree
in its second half. The plane was to be powered by four Jumo 004C engines. The 188.02 was very similar to the 188.01, but featured a slightly smaller and higher cockpit as well as a twin-rudder tail. In all, three P.188 designs were developed, but the project was ultimately abandoned due to lack of resources. |
