Olympus-Class Corvettes Attack Minbari Battle Cruiser |
ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
The Olympus-Class Corvette is
one of the oldest -- and most numerous -- ships in the service of the Earth
Alliance. Built before the Dilgar War, these ships were produced by
the dozens to serve as convoy escorts and support ships. Armed with
pulse cannons, particle beams, rail guns and missile racks, the Olympus
Corvettes were nonetheless hopelessly outclassed by enemy vessels during the
Earth-Minbari War, and most were lost. However, following that war,
the class once again went into mass production, this time to provide defense
for a weakened Earth. The Olympus-Class Corvette was one of many unusual starship designs created for the Babylon 5 TV series, which premiered as a mini-series in 1993 and ran in syndication from 1994 to 1998. |
Originally produced by BamBam Productions, the 1:3700 Olympic-Class Corvette became a joint BamBam/Fantastic Plastic venture in October 2008. This was the first "Babylon 5" subject marketed by Fantastic Plastic--the first of several likely to be released over the next several years.
