ABOUT THE KIT |
Paramount's 1979 "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" featured, as its Act One set-piece, a tour of the orbital "Space Dock" where the new NCC-1701 refit was just being completed. Participating in the construction were swarms of "Work Bees," tiny one-man spacepods that could be used for short-range transport. The "Dual Workbee" used robotic arms to grab, hold and otherwise manipulate construction materials. The craft was designed by "Star Trek" conceptual artist Andrew Probert. |
This solid, all-resin 1/48-scale kit was released in 2003 by ACEng, a garage-kit company. It featured internal magnets that allowed one to easily attach or remove the armature. This model was built from an original issue. |
