Breaking the Altitude Record |
ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
Produced by Britain's Bristol Aircraft Co., the 138A was a radical monoplane designed to "push the envelope" of high-altitude aeronautics. With its pilot sealed in a head-to-toe pressure suit, the aircraft achieved a then-record-breaking altitude record of 49,944 feet in September 1936. |
A simple, well-made kit, the Novo Bristol 138A was first produced by FROG of England, the molds subsequently purchased by the Soviet Union's NOVO company in the 1970s. This model was built from the Soviet re-issue. |
