BV-141 on Reconnaissance Patrol |
ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
Blohm & Voss engineering genius Richard Vogt concocted this weird, asymmetrical plane in response to the Luftwaffe's request for a short-range reconnaissance aircraft that would provide its pilot with the greatest possible field of vision. Although B&V failed to win that contract, the plane itself proved to be extremely airworthy -- but its shape was so radical that it was never able to enjoy the success it so richly deserved. In fact, when the British ultimately encountered it -- they laughed. |
Airfix first released its 1/72 BV-141 in the early 1970s, and it has been in perpetual re-release ever since (sometimes with alternate box art). This particular model was purchased and built in the mid-1980s. |
