ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
To Baby Boomers who came of age in the 1960s, George Barris' customized 1959 Ford Futura is the Batmobile. However, for subsequent generations, this long, sleek 1930s retro design created for the 1989 "Batman" feature film will likely stand as the definitive bat-wagon. Its turbojet engine positioned like a phallic proboscis, its two-seater cockpit topped by a sliding roof and elevated air intake, this Tim Burton Batmobile will no doubt live on long after the chrome-inlaid street machine from the later Joel Schumacher sequels is long forgotten. |
AMT/Ertl's
Batmobile
was a big hit with model makers both here in America and abroad. Stateside, the
kit was released numerous times; in the first "Batman" version, in
conjunction with 1992's "Batman Returns," and then again
in 2003. In Japan, the same kit was released several times
by Aoshima.
This model was built from an original 1989 release. |
