ABOUT THE KIT

Before the Enterprise-B became part of "Star Trek" canon, fans long speculated that the starship that occupied the space between the movies' "Enterprise-A" Constitution Class refit and the Ambassador Class "Enterprise-C" from "ST:TNG" was some sort of Excelsior Class variant.  This was proven correct in the prologue of 1994's first "ST:TNG" movie, "Star Trek-Generations."  That script called for TOS's Captain Kirk to be blown out of the engineering section during an emergency repair operation; so as not to damage the original Excelsior filming miniature, the model makers added an extension to the engineering hull, then slapped additional impulse engines to the main saucer and customized end-caps to the warp nacelles just for good measure.

Although produced in the same 1/1000 scale as the original Excelsior model, this Enterprise-B kit faithfully captured all the upgrades made to actual filming miniature. It was only produced briefly following "Generations"'s 1994 release, and is therefore somewhat hard to find today.
