The Barracuda is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) currently under development by the European Aerodynamic Defense and Space company (EADS) in a joint venture between Germany and Spain. In development since 2006, the project has survived despite the crash of a Barracuda prototype in 2008. Intended for both military surveillance and aerial combat missions, the Barracuda is made primarily from radar-resistant carbon fibers. (Only its wing spar is metal.) It is believed to have a ceiling of 20,000 feet and a payload capacity of 300 kg. |
