ABOUT THE DESIGN:    ABOUT THE MODEL:

Focke-Wulf's Kurt Tank designed this heavy fighter to serve as a long-range patrol-fighter and fighter-bomber.  The voluminous air intakes that caused thrust losses due to friction for the two HeS 011 turbojets could have been avoided by the use of fuselage lateral or wingroot air intakes, improvements that would surely have been adopted had the concept developed further.  Viewed from this aspect, the FW.250 was the forerunner of the post-war McDonnell XF-88 Voodoo and the F3H Demon.
