Roland Payen was one of France's most imaginative aircraft designers during the years between the two World Wars. In 1931, he and aeronautical engineer Robert Souvage collaborated on this innovative delta-wing flying ambulance design. (Notice that the "tail" is placed forward so as to provide additional lift, allowing the plane to operate with minimal runway space.) Although several of Payen's unique designs actually flew, there's no record that this particular plane was ever built. |
