Slightly smaller than the Galaxy-class, the Nebula-class was distinguished by is lack of a "neck" (which brought the engineering hull into direct contact with the main saucer section), its low-slung engine nacelles and, most of all, its wedged-shaped instrument pod, which could be fitted with any mission-specific variety of sensors or other equipment.

The Nebula-class first appeared in the ST:TNG Season Four episode, "The Wounded."  The Nebula made subsequent appearances on several episodes of "The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine" and in the final scene of the movie, "Star Trek Generations."

In the early 21st Century, the Japanese became enamored with "trading kits," small Micro-Machine-sized models, made from PVC plastic, that came pre-painted in packaged in boxes that didn't identify the model within.  The models were thus collected and traded much like Americans collect and trade baseball cards.

This particular model was one of six manufactured by the Romando company.
