ABOUT THE DESIGN:    ABOUT THE MODEL:

We all know the TWA Moonliner as the entrance monument to Disneyland's original "Rocket fo the Moon" ride, which operated in Anaheim  from 1955 to 1966.  Designed by Disney Imagineer John Hensch, the Disneyland rocket was actually HALF the size of the giant single-stage spacecraft Disney imagined would soon ferry tourists to and from the lunar surface.

In 1962, TWA dropped its sponsorship of the prop and the livery markings were changed to that of Douglas Aircraft.

The Moonliner disappeared from Disneyland with the closing of the Rocket to the Moon Ride in 1966, but it returned in 1998 -- albeit it 1/3 smaller -- as part of Redd Rocket's Pizza Port restaurant in the new "retro" Tomorrowland, where it can be seen and enjoyed today.

This 1:24 scale kit was created and originally sold by Scott Alexander of Atomic City Models. Praised for its accuracy and excellent engineering, the kit is now being produced by Masterpiece Models. The kit contains more than 30 pieces and includes the display stand shown in the box art.  Also included are a full set of TWA decals by Microscale.

A true collector's item, the finished TWA Moonliner stands nearly 40 inches tall (101.6 cm.) when completed!   Don't miss out on your chance to own and build this amazing display piece!
