| Developed in June 1944, the Me.P.1101/99 was to be the ultimate "Zerstorer," or attack/destroyer aircraft, which its designers hoped would be operational by 1948. With two pilots seated side-by-side in the extreme nose of the aircraft, the plane was to be powered by four Heinkel-Hirth He S 1101 turbojets buried deep in the wingroots. The all-metal fuselage featured wings swept by 45 degrees and a one 75 mm PaK 40 cannon in its nose. |
