| In 1943, Messerschmitt launched the P.1092 project to develop a multi-role jet fighter. This third version improved upon the designers' first two iterations by pushing the cockpit to the far rear of the aircraft and replacing the original single central intake with two intakes, one on either side of the centerline. The rear-mounted cockpit left more room for heavier armament in the nose, in this case four MK 108 30 mm cannon. |
