ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT"

The Enterprise-E made its debut in 1996's "Star Trek: First Contact," the second "Star Trek" feature film to star the "Next Generation" cast headed by Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner.  This new Enterprise, a "Sovereign"-class starship, was longer, sleeker and lower than its Galaxy-class predecessor -- and was actually a bit smaller.  The design continued the new Federation starship ethos, instituted with the Intrepid-class U.S.S. Voyager, that minimized the "neck" joining the command "saucer" from the lower engineering section.

The Enterprise-E was the second "Star Trek" kit released by Japan's Bandai company in 2003.  Pre-painted and equipped with an internal lighting kit, this was a "snap-together" model -- actually, more of a "squeeze-together" model -- designed for both experienced and inexperienced builders...

The model was built from an original issue.
