ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

Few Colonial capital ships were seen over the course of Battlestar Galactica's 2003-2008 run.  (No surprise, since most were destroyed early in the original Sci-Fi Channel mini-series.)  However, the 2007 TV-Movie Razor, much of which was set before the Cylon sneak attack, provided a unique opportunity to show additional military vessels.  Among the ships see in the epic Scorpion Fleetyards sequence was the "Berserk," a powerful-looking support vessel.  Originally a "fan" design, the "Berserker" became "canon" when Zoic Studios, BSG's main effects house, placed several "Bersker"-class ships among the Colonial fleet's casualties.

This 1:3700 Colonial Defender was released in early September 2008, close on the heels of the similarly scaled Colonial Defender.  Patterned by Alfred Wong and cast by BLAP! Models, the kit featured a removable landing bay keel that allowed one to view the landing bay interior.
