1970s

The slow death of conceptual spacecraft kits that began in the 1960s continued into the 1970s.  Scant few concept kits representing 1970s-era spacecraft designs ever made it to market, and many of those that did were actually created long after the decade had passed.  Meanwhile, over the "Pop Culture,"  science fiction itself was booming, soaking up the interest -- and the dollars -- that might have gone into this more seriously speculative sub-specialty.
